In 2018 Scantron was commissioned to measure the length of communications cable being laid offshore on a large vessel, running on twinned tensioner lines.

Scantron supplied two Proton SLR120120 gauges for the measurement.  Stainless steel housing units were also provided to assist the customer in keeping the systems dry – being out in the open, and out at sea, is a very different and more challenging environment from the usual factory or mill location.

Once fully set-up, the gauges were commissioned by a Scantron engineer to proof them against vibration on the deck.
